modeFRONTIER® Response Surface Modeling
Ideal method where a single simulation run can take hours or even days
|
Optimization using the DOE/RSM Approach
In cases where the time to run a single analysis makes running more than a few simulations prohibitive, the user can turn to a Design of Experiment technique. This performs a small number of calculations and then uses the results obtained to create an analytical surface which passes through these points. |
This “Response Surface”, can be used to perform the optimization without performing any further analyses. As the points extracted from this surface have not been obtained through simulation, they are considered to be virtual design. Any virtual design chosen should be validated through analysis.
This method is ideal for CPU-intensive analyses (for example crash or CFD) where a single simulation can take hours or even days.
